What You'll Do

Launch your career as a Technical Apprentice with LEONARDO MW LTD in the UK. Earn while you learn with hands-on training and a nationally recognised qualification.

Years 1 and 2:

During your first year you will spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship.

Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements within some of the following departments:

Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations and other engineering support functions.

During your second year you will attend college on a day release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship and continue with your rotational placements.

Years 3 and 4:

  • In your 3rd year you will continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your engineering skills. Your 3rd year will also see you through the workplace portfolio phase of your level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the competence qualification of your apprenticeship. For your final year you will specialise in your chosen area, based on your experience throughout your rotational placements you will also complete the End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship in Engineering Technical Support (Apprenticeship Standard Ref: ST0457).

During your apprenticeship, you will:

  • Grow your knowledge of an engineering business and what the role of a technician is by being part of an integrated Project Team
  • Develop practical skills in engineering and understanding key processes and technologies
  • Support early careers activities - our apprentices have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges and universities
